Prepping for NaNoWriMo

Joining WriteClubRVA has forced me to dust off a few things I’ve had in my head for a number of years. The most promising of which is a story I concieved of as a Power Pack story for the Marvel Max line. Power Pack being a group of kids age five to twelve who have super powers and the Marvel MAX line being an adults only line of books where harsh language, violence and sexual situations were the norm. I planned to age the characters a bit after they (mostly) survive a tragic defeat. I quickly realized that there was no way Marvel would take its most venerable franchise for children and let it be turned into something that would be at home on HBO so I made a number of revisions while keeping the core of the story the same. Four kids who have suffered horribly and parents who have been so devestated that they can no longer function in any real capacity. The main crux of the story is this broken family who are trying to fit into one anothers lives again. They are all deeply flawed but they all have reason to be.

I’ve been looking at what I already have written, about five pages of character notes and plot points, and I’ve started making an outline. The last time I sat down to look at this I thought it would make a good HBO or Showtime series but I’m thinking it could become a novel. I suppose we’ll see how well it goes over in a couple of weeks at the next Write Club meeting. In the meantime I have this blog, the blog at to keep me occupied. Writing every day is something I’ve tried to do many times before but never seem to be able to keep up.
